Art comes form the inside, they say in Cadiz; and
watching a concert of Keko Balodmero, one can understand how such a
complex way of playing can seem easy, coming from the hands of this
young guitarist.
Keko was born in
1984 and
began playing the guitar at the
age of 9.
Influenced by his brother Juanma Baldomero and of course by his
birthplace, the famous "Barrio de Santa Maria" where the music of
Flamenco can be heard abundantly in the streets. He began his
training with classes from the best guitarists of the region
like
Oscar Lago, Andrés Martínez, Juan Antonio Gómez, Román
Vicenti,
among others. At 15 he presents himself at the prestigous "National
Flamenco Guitar Competition; Young Talents" in Jerez de la
Fronterra (1999). Amidst hundreds of guitarists Keko was a
finalist.
In 2000 Keko recieved classes from the famos
Manolo Sanlucar and
from here sought out the Catalan guitarist
"El Chicuelo" in
Barcelona. In 2001, Keko enters as guitarist in the dance company
of
Maria Serrano which
would take him on his first world tour in
23 countries.
This next year not only his playing was recognized as special, but
also his compositions and he was contracted along with
Andres Martinez and Sergio Monroy,
to compose the music her next show "Carmen, Pasion Flamenca". Its
great sucess also took them around the world.
In
2005 at 21 years old, he debutes his own show as concertionist
Flamenco in the ¨Central
Lechera¨in
his hometown of Cadiz, recieving great response from both the
critics and the audience.
For 2006 Keko will acompany Jerez de la Frontera´s famed
singer
José Mercé
on his world tour.
In
this occasion Keko presents his compositions accompanied by
the
"new generation of flamencos" from
Cadiz. He has tour dates now booked in Ireland, England and
Germany.
