Flamenco Jazz
Flamenco
Jazz

At
the forefront of this movement is
Sergio Monroy who
has developed a unique synthesis of flamenco and piano jazz
expressing a contemporary and fresh interpretation. Sergio fuses
the components of flamenco - the guitar, the palmas (hand-clapping)
and the voice - without imitating them, bringing all the piano's
melodic resources, rhythm and harmony into play.
Alfonso Gamaza "El Moderno"

Domínguez Sexteto & Wynton Marsalis
Festival Internacional de Vitoria Gazteiz 2003
The
fusion between Flamenco and other music is a relatively new
phenomena which has given rise to "unique combinations, brilliantly
conceived interactions and a hotbed of talented creativity."
Musicians like
Chano Domínguez, Gerardo Núñez, Jorge Pardo, Jerry González and
Alfonso Gamaza were
some of the firsts to reinvent this archetypal
idiom.
